Local Youth Employment
We provide plenty of employment and internship opportunities for local youth especially graduates every year by joining Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme generated by HKSAR and New Graduates-New Opportunities Scheme rolled out by the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association (HKCEA). We also provide vocational training on various topics for Hong Kong university students to speed up their integration into the workplace.
The Cultural Trip of Maritime Industry for Youth
“The Cultural Trip of Maritime Industry for Youth” is an interactive experience programme initiated by us since 2017, leading groups of Hong Kong teenagers and youths to different cities in mainland China, learning about ship-building bases under CMI and other enterprises under CMG. Through this programme, we provide career development guidance for Hong Kong young people who interested in the maritime industry: participants will have good opportunities to visit key universities/companies in maritime industry and other cultural site-seeing spots, have a dialogue with peers and bigwigs to have a better understanding.
Emergency Rescue
When a super typhoon "Mangkhut" hit Hong Kong in 2018, Yiu Lian Dockyards under CMI arranged 10 tugboats to provide guardianship and rescue services for ships in local waters in case of any emergency. Among them, the tugboat "Hai An", "Hai Lian" and "Hai Min" fought for more than 10 hours against the storm on the sea and rescued 15 crew members. The bravary of Yiu Lian Tug members was commended by Hong Kong Marine Department.
