On August 26th 2022, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Wei Hai) Co.,Ltd. and China-Japan International Ferry Co., LTD. held a signing ceremony for the new shipbuilding project in Shanghai. Xue Jian, Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Osaka, Hideichi Akamatsu, Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai, Li Bai 'an, Vice General Manager of China Merchants Group, Huang Xiawen, Vice General Manager of COSCO Shipping Group and others participated in the ceremony or via video.

The new ship will be the fourth Ropax Ships in China-Japan International Ferry, previous 3 ships were all built by Japanese shipyards. The ship is 167.2 meters long, 25 meters wide, accommodates 192 passengers and 334 standard containers. This ship is designed with the goal of environmental protection and carbon emission reduction. It is the first Ropax Ship independently developed in China to meet the requirements of the third stage of EEDI, and it is a pioneer of a new generation of green Ropax Ship. Further, the ship is equipped with intelligent ship system, through satellite communication, 4G/5G and other multi-channel ship-to-shore communication links, to achieve centralized management and processing of ship-to-shore data, to provide an efficient, stable and safe data environment and software operation environment for intelligent energy efficiency management, intelligent engine room and intelligent navigation.
