On April 1st, Weihai Jinling ship yard carry out the ceremony of starting building in dry dock on Hull No. W0276, the first of two identical Superstar Class RoPax ferries for Finnlines Plc. Owner site manager Christopher Alixius,RINA Site manager Filip Specht, Weihai Jinling General manager Zheng Hehui, Deputy general manager Zhou Zhengbing and Ni Weisong with project team members attend the ceremony.

W0276 as the first luxury high-end passenger RoPax building for Finnlines project, has a lot of new equipment and systems compared with the previous projects,  the construction layout and decoration style have greatly change, makes design more difficult. The project team summarized the previous experience, coordinated with all production departments to optimize the construction process, try to shorten the construction period.

In order to solve the difficulties of the shortage manpower, materials and equipment cannot arrive on time,caused by the epidemic, yard actively coordinated relevant resources to ensure the materials arrive. The project team strictly follow the production plan, production department worked overtime to promote key projects such as segmental construction, outfitting and painting. The technical department fought day and night make sure the drawing progress and quality. The owner, Class surveyor and Shanghai Cruise Research Institute strongly support and closely cooperate to ensure that the ship dry docking on schedule.

According to the plan, the W0276 will start shafting alignment and complete the main hull on June, and cabin units lifting will be ready before August 20th, launching will be at the end of August 2022. At present, project are racing against time to make sure that subsequent projects are carried out on schedule.

With a length of about 235 meters, a breadth of 33.3 meters, design draft 7.0 meters, the loading capacity of this vessel will be more than 5,100 lane meters for rolling freight and 1,212 persons. In practice, this means that the vessel can carry approximately 300 trailers per voyage. There are about 323 passenger cabins on board. Combined with some features of luxury cruise ships, there are public places such as supermarket shops, bars, sauna, SPA, yoga room, game room, VIP lounge, children's playground, restaurant and winter garden, which integrate travel, leisure and entertainment. The vessel is designed with various types of seats and public areas, and passengers can enjoy the journey across the picturesque archipelago in spacious outdoor areas.

The vessel was built according to the classification standard of RINA Classification Society , meeting the requirements of Green Plus and ICE IA SUPER. It equips four engines and two shaft generators, and is equipped with air lubrication system, battery system, scrubber system and ballast water treatment system and other energy-saving and environmental protection devices, meeting the latest international standards such as EEDI and SRTP.
