8 ships! CMI Weihai shipyard sign contracts with Gram Car Carriers for the constructions of 7000CEU PCTC


On 16th May,2022, CMI Weihai Jinling shipyard and Global Auto Carriers, a subsidiary company of Norwegian shipowner Gram Car Carriers (hereinafter referred to as "GCC"), successfully sign the contracts of 4+2+2 7000CEU PCTC projects in the form of "Live Stream Signing Contract". The CEO of GCC Mr. Georg A.Whist, Deputy General Manager of CMI Mr. Wu Sichuan, General Manager of Weihai shipyard Mr. Zheng Hehui, Deputy General Manager of Weihai shipyard Mr. Liu Xinnan and other guests attended the signing ceremony.

Mr. Zheng Hehui said that we are very grateful to Mr. Georg A. Whist and your team for the highly trust and support to Weihai Shipyard. Our company is accelerating the transformation and upgrading of "shipbuilding in one hand and ship repairing in the other hand". By delivering better and stronger construction of high-end passenger ships and PCTC ships, steadily developing the business of shipbuilding and offshore repairing.After the contracts signed, we will work together with the shipowner, design institute and classification society to deliver high-quality and efficient ships on schedule through scientific organization and careful planning.

I do hope this projects will not only deepen the cooperation between Weihai shipyard and Gram but also bring a win-win situation for both parties, laying a solid foundation for the transformation and upgrading of high-end construction.

Mr. Georg A.Whist expressed his great honor to cooperate with CMI Weihai Shipyard.Through this cooperation, the both parties will further enhance the building capacity of high-quality ships., which also marks the establishment of a long-term cooperative partnership between both parties. I hope that in the near future, both parties can have face-to-face exchanges soon, and devote themselves to providing better services to customers, leading the green and low-carbon development of the industry.

Mr. Wu Sichuan said that this project is the second cooperation between China Merchants Industry and Gram Group, and thanks Gram for its highly trust and support to China Merchants Industry. The contract signing of Gram 7000CEU PCTC projects have once again enhanced the brand awareness of "CMI Jinling", a special ship manufacturing industry, and made Weihai Jinling take a solid step towards the transformation and upgrading of high-end manufacturing. At the same time, the project carries the in-depth integration of Chinese and western cultures, which will surely become a link between CMI and Gram, and even between China and Europe. It is hoped that through the joint efforts of both sides, more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation will be established.

 

This series of dual-fuel PCTC vessels are designed by SDARI and classified in DNV Classification Society. The length of the vessels is 199.9m, the width is 38m, the designed draft is 8.6m, the gross tonnage is about 69,000, and the designed speed is 19.0 knots. There are 12 vehicle decks, a high-pressure dual-fuel main engine and two C-type LNG tanks of about 1,700 cubic meters. This series of vessels have the characteristics and advantages of economy, environmental protection, safety, intelligence and high efficiency. The nitrogen oxides meet the IMO requirements of Tier III emission standard, and the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) meets the requirements of the third stage. In the design of the ship, the safety of new energy vehicles, network security and port noise control are taken into account.  Meanwhile, in order to help achieve the strategic goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutral", Ammonia Ready is considered as an option in the ship design.

Following the signing of EPS 6 vessels of 7000 CEU project to enter the car carrier construction market,the signing of 4+2+2 7000CEU PCTC vessels is another major breakthrough in the field of PCTC vessels and another milestone product in the transformation and upgrading process for Weihai Jinling Shipyard , and further consolidates its competitiveness in the international RORO market. So far,the total number of PCTC vessels’orders in hand reached 14 , ranking first in the world. The first vessel of the projects is scheduled to start steel cutting in the third quarter of 2024, and to be delivered in end 2025.
